CWU Ag Student Pt 1

From the Ag Information Network, this is today’s Fruit Grower Report. We recently reported on the great, new Food and Agribusiness minor or certificate program at Central Washington University when we spoke with one of the professors.

Now, we’ve got a student’s perspective, accounting major, Elena Tucker who was one of the first involved …

TUCKER … “I enrolled in one of the minors and ended up falling in love with it and ended up adding on the other two, but I think, at the end of the day, I just wanted to be able to come back to my community and bring something new to the table, bring new education and try and make it a better place.”

Tucker says the minors include Applied Agribusiness

Technology, Food and Agribusiness Innovation or Food and Agribusiness Management and Marketing …

TUCKER … “Just realizing that there are so many different opportunities as somebody new to this field and there’s so many that people are unaware of that no matter what you do, you’re going to be making a great difference.

And so just finding something that your passionate about and heading into it with full-force and hoping to make that big difference for everybody.”

The East Wenatchee native sounds like she’s found her calling …

TUCKER … “I think just kind of the biggest thing is that this industry does need help and there’s so many different ways for somebody to help. You don’t have to be out in the field. There’s management positions, there’s grocery store managers, there’s all kinds of different positions you can be in. And so, any help is help that is appreciated.”
