**Georgia Farm Bureau President Gerald Long hosted Georgia Governor Brian Kemp in an installment of GFB’s “Digging In” webinar series.

During the October 7th event, Kemp touted the state’s efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19, talked economic recovery in rural areas and discussed projects in development that he expects will enhance recovery efforts.

Kemp indicated there have been positive developments in the ag economy, though commodity prices are not as strong as they could be.

**The Alabama Farmers Agriculture Foundation is accepting applications through November 30th from farmers who suffered losses related to Hurricane Sally.

AFAF and Alabama Farmers Federation President Jimmy Parnell says the Foundation established a Hurricane Sally Relief Fund last month in response to calls from farmers and businesses who wanted to help their south Alabama neighbors.

The relief fund is designed to help offset farmer losses not covered by a farmowner policy, crop insurance or disaster relief programs.

**In the latest development in an ongoing investigation into the poultry industry, Pilgrim's Pride, the nation's second largest chicken producer, agreed to pay $110.5 million to settle charges it had colluded to artificially inflate the price of birds sold to consumers, grocery stores, and restaurants.

The plea agreement likely means the company will not be subject to additional charges.

The settlement follows the indictment of several poultry corporation higher-ups.
