Dealing with Pests

Dealing with Pests. I'm Greg Martin with today's Line On Agriculture.

Yesterday we started a talk with Bayer's Larry Hawkins about their new, long-lasting product Annihilator™ Polyzone®. One major benefit is that since it is long-lasting there is a cost savings.

HAWKINS: The price of it is similar to other pyrethroids except you don't have to reapply it so it is a money saver in the long run. Otherwise you'd be putting it on every day. To buy a bottle of it or to mix into a gallon of water - about the same cost as other pyrethroids. The fact is you get a longer duration so it makes it cheaper.

Bayer also has another fly control product.

HAWKINS: Rabon™ Oral Larvicide. This is something that has been around a while and we have just brought it back to the market very effectively. It's a feed through insecticide. It's specially formulated to put in mineral mixes or rations and feed through. And many of the flies - as a matter of fact horn flies and face flies breed in fresh cow manure so if this feed through goes through it's right there to kill those flies.

Finally Hawkins talks about Clean-Up™.

HAWKINS: The thing about Clean-Up™ is it has diflubenzuron in it which is an insect growth growth regulator and it kills the eggs or stop them from hatching. Lice control was always a problem because it's easy to kill the adults and the nymphs but the eggs would hatch and you'd be reinvested in about 3 weeks.
