10/28/05 Logistics of USDA listening session

Washington Ag October 28, 2005 If you plan on making public comment at next week's Farm Bill listening session with Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns at Eastern Washington University, prepare to be brief. Speakers will have two minutes each to make their comments, though written comments can also be submitted to USDA. The Farm Bill listening session is scheduled for next Thursday, November 3rd from one to four p.m. at Showalter Hall Auditorium on the EWU campus in Cheney. James Fitzgerald State Director of the USDA Farm Service Agency, says arrangements are being made for parking. Fitzgerald: "There will be a lot of signs as you enter Cheney. They will want to find their way to the Red Barn parking lot and USDA will be providing a shuttle service from that parking lot to the auditorium. Lot of construction on campus so that will probably be the easiest means to reach the auditorium. That shuttle will run continuously from about 11 o'clock until about five o'clock." 26 Fitzgerald says several USDA agencies will have booths set up at Showalter Hall for producers to get information from and also for students to learn about career opportunities with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
