09/16/05 WSU Beef Info Day

Washington Ag September 16, 2005 Adding value to cattle through creative marketing, including niche marketing will be the focus of Washington State University's Beef Information Day scheduled for next Saturday, September 24th at the Best Western Lake Inn in Moses Lake. Art Linton, WSU Extension beef scientist says the lead off presentation for Beef Info Day will be from Bill Mies, vice president of national account sales for eMerge Interactive of College Station, Texas. There will also be northwest speakers. Linton: "Included in that are a number of people who are doing some innovative things in marketing. We have one individual who is producing organic beef in central Washington, selling it on the West side to some people who are willing to pay more for that kind of a product. We have one of the speakers is a participant in Natural Country Beef, what used to be Oregon Country Beef. Of course that is a PNW cooperative of a number of breeders that are producing cattle in sort of natural sort of way." And many more. Beef Information day will run from 9 a.m. to 4:15 pm on the 24th. The $40 per person registration includes lunch. I'm Bob Hoff.
