03/09/05 Time to enter Beef Cook-Off

Washington Ag March 9, 2005 More than 100-thousand dollars in cash prizes await the best secret family recipes as their creators have the opportunity to compete in the 2005 National Beef Cook-Off. The Washington State Beef Commission invites Washington's top amateur cooks to compete for the right to claim their beef recipe the "Best of Beef" in America. Jackie Madill, consumer information coordinator for the Beef Commission, says a new category has been added to the Beef Check-Off funded event. Madill: "It's called Family Favorites. It showcases original beef recipes that families enjoy eating during the week or for a special occasion." Family Favorites joins the other categories of the Beef Market Basket, Grilled Beef, and Inspired By. Madill says the deadline to enter the 2005 National Beef Cook-Off competition is coming up March 31st. So, to enter; Madill: "The quickest route is to visit the Washington State Beef Commission's website at www-dot-wabeef-dot-org, where we have a link that hooks you right in to the Cook-Off's program as well as specific information about entering into the program." You can also mail your entry postmarked by March 31st to National Beef Cook-Off Entries, ANCW, PO Box 3881, Englewood, Colorado 80155. I'm Bob Hoff.
