02/04/05 Inland Northwest Oilseed Forum

Washington Ag February 4, 2005 A comprehensive discussion about moving an oilseed industry forward in the region is the subject of the Inland Northwest Oilseed Forum scheduled for next Thursday, February 10th in Spokane. The event is being held at the Northern Quest Casino's Pend Oreille Pavilion with registration starting at 8:30 a.m. Jim Armstrong with the Spokane County Conservation District, one of the forum's sponsors, says the program will have producers of oilseed crops like mustard and canola, university experts and folks from the marketing side of the value added products from crushing. Armstrong: "I think there is going to be a lot of good information. There's a lot of rumor, a lot of conjecture of what is going on out there and I think we are going to put all that to rest come up with some accurate information for everybody." That forum is free, including lunch, but you have to RSVP. Do so by calling 509-535-7274. Biodiesel is a major focus of those working on an oilseed industry for the inland northwest. Nationally this week there was news from John Deere that beginning in March, diesel powered equipment will be leaving the company's manufacturing plants with a tank full of biodiesel. Those John Deere factory fills of B2 as it is called, will use about one million gallons of biodiesel annually. I'm Bob Hoff.
