01/21/05 Insurance sales closing dates

Washington Ag January 21, 2005 January 31st is the final date to obtain that new Adjusted Gross Revenue Lite, or AGR Lite insurance for 2005. Dave Paul of the regional office of the Risk Management Agency, says AGR Lite provides whole-farm revenue protection against low returns due to unavoidable natural disasters and market fluctuations that affect income from commodities produced during the year. Paul: "There is an income limitation requirement as the policy provides a maximum amount of coverage of $250,000. So there are some income qualifications in the program if you are too large of an operation you are not eligible for the AGR Lite program. So a producer would have to talk to an insurance agent on some of the eligibility requirements." January 31st is also the final date to obtain 2005 Adjusted Gross Revenue Pilot insurance. February 1st is the sales closing date for spring planted onions and also the final date to obtain the cabbage pilot insurance. The Washington Asparagus Commission is holding its annual meeting next Tuesday, January 25th at the Franklin County PUD in Pasco beginning at nine a.m. All growers are urged to attend to receive the latest information on the state of the industry along with an update on the mechanical harvester. I'm Bob Hoff.
