This is the Agribusiness Update...I'm Greg Martin...

Agri-Pulse reports the U.S. Department of Agriculture published its proposal in November to strengthen agricultural coexistence in the United States. USDA has decided to extend the comment public period for 60 days - which makes the new deadline March 4th. Coexistence is defined as the concurrent cultivation of crops produced through diverse agricultural systems - including traditionally produced, organic, identity preserved and genetically engineered crops.

Things seem to be looking up for the cattle industry - as USDA noted declining feed costs and improving pastures in its latest Livestock, Dairy and Poultry Outlook report - according to Meatingplace. Early this month - average monthly corn prices dropped almost one-third from August's average monthly price.

The National Corn Growers Association recently announced the winners of its 2013 Corn Yield Contest. Eight growers from six states who planted six different Pioneer brand hybrids placed in the six national categories of the contest - and only those who planted Pioneer hybrids reached the 400-bushel level in this year's contest.

That's today's Agribusiness Update from the Ag Information Network.
