Months of production are still remaining - but new EPA statistics released Thursday show the biodiesel industry has topped the one-billion gallon mark for the third consecutive year. National Biodiesel Board Vice President of Federal Affairs says this tremendous achievement is a testament to the hard work of the biodiesel industry and the success of the Renewable Fuel Standard.

Natural Resources Committee Chairman Doc Hastings released a statement regarding the memorandum issued Friday by the Department of Energy on the Bonneville Power Administration saying quote: "The Bonneville Power Administration provides millions of American families and small businesses in the Pacific Northwest with clean, affordable energy. As such, it is important that BPA's decision making remains in the region, that its autonomy as a separate and distinct agency is respected by the Obama Administration, and that ratepayers remain informed and engaged."

USDA researchers have developed new patent-pending technology to make the production of foot and mouth disease vaccines safer. A microbiologist at the Agricultural Research Service Foreign Animal Disease Research Unit at the Plum Island Animal Disease Center has designed a technique to make FMD vaccine without the need for virulent virus.
