Are you 18 or younger and related to National Cattlemen's Beef Association, American National Cattlewomen or Cattlemen's Beef Board? NCBA is hosting its first annual National Anthem Singing Contest to determine the singer of the Star Spangled Banner at the 2014 Opening General Session, and at the Grand Ole Opry House during the Cowboy's Night at the Opry II.

Monsanto Company announced it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire The Climate Corporation. The acquisition will combine The Climate Corporation's expertise in agriculture analytics and risk-management with Monsanto's R&D capabilities, and provide farmers access to more information about the many factors that affect the success of their crops. The acquisition will immediately expand both the near- and long-term growth opportunities for Monsanto's business and Integrated Farming Systems platform.

The U.S. House sent the bill that combined its farm program and nutrition bills to the Senate Monday. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid followed Tuesday with a request for a conference committee to resolve the differences between the House bill and the Senate version. He also named conferees - reappointing the seven Democrats and five Republicans first named in August.
