The House Energy and Power Subcommittee started a two-day hearing on the Renewable Fuel Standard Tuesday. House Energy Committee Chair Fred Upton said the current system can’t stand and expressed hope that a discussion would start that considers a host of potential modifications and updates to the RFS.

Idaho farmers markets have experienced rapid growth in popularity in recent years. In the past decade, the number of markets in Idaho increased by more than 150 percent – up from 20 in 2002 to 54 markets operating today. Farmers markets are an excellent source of quality local products and truly showcase the bounty of Idaho agriculture. In recognition of the importance of farmers markets to the state, Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter proclaimed August 4-10 as Idaho Farmers Market Week.

After four years of work, the National Potato Council and the United States Potato Board are pleased the government of the Philippines has revised its import requirements to allow for entry of U.S. fresh table-stock potatoes. Previous to this change, only fresh U.S. potatoes destined for processing into potato chips were allowed entry into the Philippines.
