This is the Agribusiness Update...I’m Greg Martin...

The official committee print of the 2013 Farm Bill is now available on the Senate Agriculture Committee website. The bipartisan bill represents the most significant reform of American agriculture policy in decades. The era of direct payments comes to an end with the Agriculture Reform, Food and Jobs Act - with the bill creating risk management tools that support farmers when they are negatively impacted by weather disaster or market events beyond their control.

The Antimicrobial Data Collection Act has been introduced in the Senate. The bill calls for increased data collection by the Food and Drug Administration, enhanced transparency and public awareness of antimicrobial drug use in agriculture and strengthened FDA accountability regarding unsafe antimicrobial drug use.

Farm payments temporarily suspended due to sequestration - including payments for the 2011 Supplemental Revenue Assistance Payments Program, the Noninsured Crop Assistance Program and the Milk Income Loss Contract Program - have resumed. Farm Service Agency Administrator Juan Garcia said FSA is working diligently to get the payments out as quickly as possible.?
That’s today’s Agribusiness Update from the Ag Information Network.
