Eastern Oregon ranchers want more authority to kill wolves that threaten their livestock and are asking legislators for help. Environmentalists warned that wolf populations might dwindle if ranchers have fewer hurdles to scale before they can legally kill a wolf. Both sides are planning meetings to work on a compromise.

The EPA said Wednesday that 109 million gallons of biodiesel were produced in March. The numbers show a total of more than 127 million gallons of Biomass-based Diesel for March, but that total also includes production of renewable diesel. With the March numbers, year-to-date biodiesel production stands at just under 259 million gallons.

An Idaho rancher addressed a House Appropriations Subcommittee urging them to improve business stability for ranchers through well-placed appropriation of funding to the federal agencies. She emphasized to appropriators the positive influence they can have in putting a stop to the overly-burdensome regulations on federal lands that provide radical, anti-grazing environmental groups with opportunities to litigate.
