Robert Earl Woodard raises Bass in his own pond and wrote a book entitled "Eye to Eye with Big Bass: 'Let Her Go!' "Since my retirement in 2011 I have spent every day with my bass in my lake. I see them every day, I feed them every day and only catch one per year. I do that to weigh them and see how they're progressing as far as their growth. At my pier when I am feeding bass, if I catch a bass with my bare hands, immediately all the big ones will leave. They may not return for a couple of days. They have a signaling mechanism and alert all the other fish sending them away from the pier to deeper water to be in their comfort zone for safety and they are very reluctant about returning back. They are smarter than what people give them credit for. My experiences are limited to Alabama but I have friends in the Midwest, Kentucky and Oklahoma and they tell me their experiences are the same as mine.
