Bass Pro Bass

Tommy Allen and Matt Rice, two of my colleagues on the Sportsmen's Spotlight team were doing some business in the Midwest and, being avid sportsmen, when their business day was over, went looking for an outdoors adventure. Here's Tommy: "We went to a Bass Pro Shop and we just packed these little extender rods which we folded up in our suitcase and we would get done for the day. We would pull them out and try and figure out a place to go fish and went to Bass Pro Shop to ask where to go fishing at and come to find out they have a stock pond right outside and all you have to do is fill out a little paperwork and a lot of guys who bring trophies into Bass Pro Shop and want to put them in the aquarium there, it sounds like Bass Pro Shop has a quarantine program where they have to get sent back to their headquarters for about three weeks or so and then they can display the fish. A lot of these guys don't want to deal with that so they just let these monster fish go in the pond. I heard the story of a seven-year-old girl, first fishing trip, she caught an eight or 9 pound catfish out of there, just incredible. It was tough fishing there. Those are probably the most educated fish on the planet.
