 Hey fly fisherman.  What kind of fly rod do you have? Something off the shelf from your local sports store, a rod you found in a catalog, something you inherited or something you had custom made?   I ran into Jason Zicha  at a sportsman’s show and found out that he is very passionate about  making custom fly rods.  Jason owns Fall River Flyrods  “We started building fly rods back in 1998 as a side business and took the business full-time in 2009.We specialize in things you cannot find in a catalog. That is the reason the business started in the first place was that I had a specific desire for a fly rod that would suit my needs and no manufacturer could accommodate me. Another thing we liked was growing up I remember my grandfather’s fly rods were always heavily decorated from the manufacturers with different colors and tinsils and things like that. Today all we see are wraps the match the color of the blank and so we wanted to impart some more art back into the most heavily used piece of equipment in flyfishing. It is something you have in your hand and that you look at all day long and it is something that should bring an extended amount of joy into the experience of flyfishing itself. Rather than a tool it should be an extension of the fisherman.
