Hi everybody it's time for your Wednesday Agri Beef Minute here on the Ag Information Network of the West-I'm Russell Nemetz.

Today our newsmaker guest is Logan Peters, a cattle procurement representative for Agri Beef. And in today's beef cattle industry, there are a lot of things ranchers can do to generate more money on their operation and one of those is pre-conditioning their calves.

"Preconditioning is one of the most important things an rancher can do especially when we go to evaluate purchasing feeder cattle. Some of the things we look at is to make sure the cattle have a 45-day wean as well as two rounds of shots including a modified live virus such as a Bovashield Gold 5 or Pyramid 5 as well as a seven way vaccine. A long side that, it's very important to have a good mineral program within the cows and the calves. All these things add value to the cattle when we go to bid or actually purchase cattle. Being a rancher and you want to get the most out of your calf crop, preconditioning is one the best ways of doing so."
