Free Range chicken takes on new meaning on today’s OpenRange, I’m Susan Allen inviting you to stay tuned for the story. I’d say it’s a good time to be a chicken out west considering California just passed proposition 2, a law that puts a kibosh on cruel confinement of farm animals and gives farmers a time frame, 2015 to comply by increasing space within crates or allowing  chickens to roam free. Naturally, forgive the pun, free range chicken is becoming immensely popular and takes on a whole new meaning for the masses of folks that are now discovering chickens as pets all thanks to.... chicken diapers. Yes you can really order “chicken diapers”, and there really is a chickendiapers.com. They come  in a variety of sizes and colors and they’ll set you back a lot more than pampers, up to twenty-five dollars a diaper, but for chicken lovers that bit of protection means pets  now have free range inside homes and apartments. With a a pet craze, (remember pot bellied pigs)...you have capitalists. There are now chicken toys, chicken treats, chicken costumes and chicken  counselors.... While I doubt there will be a movie any time soon titled “The Chicken Whisperer” (maybe a cartoon) there’s actually a man with an internet radio program with that title who boasts 15,0000 listeners.  Newby Chicken owners have lots of questions and  concerns and adore their pets because in their words, pet chickens not only make  breakfast but also provide a natural way of keeping bugs at bay. What’s a chickens’ favorite bug? tune into the Chicken Whisperer to find out!
