Senator Johanns takes on Japan for US Beef

If we had an aggressive ag secretary, we don’t, but if we did, it’s time for hard ball with the Japanese regarding US beef.  Oh they understand the game, imagine the uproar in Japan if we decided to ban Toyota vehicles by virtue of the fact they are dangerous and have killed  over twenty of our citizens. Hum, since 2003 Japan has banned US  beef that, let me see, ....never harmed a soul. Why have we become such international wimps? Where’s our John Wayne mentality? I’m Susan Allen back with Open Range. Good for Senator Mike Johanns to call for Japan to immediately lift the ban on U.S. Beef . Why won’t our new ag secretary Tom Visack focus on this amazing opportunity to strong arm this snobby country into lifting it’s partial ban on our perfectly safe not to mention, delicious  U.S. beef products?  According to Johanns “ Japans position for which there is absolutely  no scientific justification, has cost producers billions of dollars and created a double standard that defies rationalization.” Oh I  wish there was back up and back bone from the Obama administration. While “bone-in” beef returned to Taiwan this month midst fanfare funded by the Texas Beef Council, the beef checkoff and USDA Market Access Program, American beef remains  banned in Japan over concerns about mad cow disease. Currently it limits its imports of U.S. beef to only boneless beef from cattle 20 months old and younger.
