Yesterday we discussed an Indian Valley meeting between Idaho Farm Bureau Federation officials and cattlemen and the issue at stake was policy regarding wolf depredation of cattle. State Farm Bureau Pres. Brian Searle weighed in. "We have come here to have an opportunity to hear from the people on the ground who are concerned about livestock. The fire reaching out and the damage from the wolves, the damage that they are causing. They have the opportunity to bring forth their concerns to put in policy and we can go forth and have strong policy to protect families here to be able to farm and ranch." Here is cattle rancher Phil Davis who has watched wolves praying on his cattle herd for over 20 years. "There is a suggestion that we require designation of wolves changed from game animal to a special predator. This is a good group to give you some help because everybody has their perspective. They are always looking out for the good of agriculture so it's a good group." Davis and the group will discuss how to word the three resolutions he proposes and move the grassroots ideas he brings up the chain. Federation, Idaho's largest general farm organization and the voice of Idaho agriculture.
