Fake Meat

Fake Meat

There's a story provided by the National Association of Farm Broadcasters saying that a turf war is developing between the Food and Drug Administration and the USDA over fake meat. First of all, I don't know how you can call something that is grown in a petri dish meat. Fake meat, maybe but you can't call it meat with no qualifier. The turf war is over how this "substance" should be regulated. Apparently the FDA has recently tried to assert its authority over the regulation of fake meat and the National Cattlemen's Beef Association's Danielle Beck claims the FDA is acting outside of its jurisdiction. She believes the only outcome that will benefit both the industry and consumers is for the USDA to be designated the official regulator. Her immediate concern is to settle this argument at hand over which agency has rightful jurisdiction. I disagree with Ms. Beck. I think fake meat should be regulated by the FDA, food and drug administration because if you eat fake meat, you must be on drugs.
