Is our political system broken? It always amazes me how riders get attached to bills that have nothing to do with the focus of the bill itself. Is there anything more important than passing a farm bill? No farms, no food. As to the recent failure of the farm bill to be set into law... Listen to House Agriculture Committee Chairman. Michael Conaway from Texas as he answers the question, what happened in the first farm bill vote. "We got beat. It's unfortunate but not one Democrat saw fit to support production agriculture, to support the hard-working men and women of America who put the best food, the most affordable food on our tables and who are under terrible circumstances with trade uncertainty, horrible commodity prices, where nothing could have been better for them than a pat on the back and saying we are going to maintain good agriculture practices and policies, we are going to keep it in place over the next five years, we are going to work hard to make sure that you stay in business. Instead they got a game that was being played by Nancy Pelosi et.al.
