Trespassing Law

Bill H 658 A is important to protect private property rights in Idaho. The legislation passed through the Idaho House of Representatives by a vote of 51 to 18 and the State Senate on a 29 to 6 vote. The governor, under pressure from law enforcement and environmental groups allowed H 658 A to become law without his signature. The debate was lively. Sometimes heated and sometimes misleading but the new law got its due process of vetting from a lot of Idaho citizens. Citizens such as Gem County farmer Danny Walton: "I was irrigating right here on top of this field right behind me. He drove by and waved and I waved back to him. He went around the corner, I got on my four wheeler to go get the wife and do some more streams. I heard this bang and I ran on down with the four wheeler. He was on my road coming out of my field with a pheasant in his hands. I waited till he got to the road by his car. I asked him what he was doing and he said I shot this pheasant and it landed out here so I came out and got it. I asked if he had permission to be out there. He said yes I had permission and I asked who from? He said the guy that owns it. I said, you're looking at him and I don't recall ever giving you permission."
