"Agriculture is the one thing every human needs." Idaho State Senator Jim Rice, Chairman of the Senate Agricultural Committee addresses members of the Idaho Farm Bureau at their annual legislative conference in Boise. With the legislature having been in session, it was an annual event that Farm Bureau leaders from across the state host every February. House Majority Leader Mike Doyle talked taxes with the farmers and ranchers and pointed out a little known fact about taxes in Idaho. "It's kinda interesting. People don't realize we're the 4th highest west of the Mississippi." Senate Majority Leader Chuck Winder spoke on the efforts to overhaul the state funding distribution formula for public schools to meet the changing times. "We're trying to take a look at how the money gets distributed to the schools from the standpoint of deliveries over the internet." The day ended with a strolling buffet where farmers and lawmaners engaged face to face over prime rib and ham with all the trimmings
