09/08/05 Pesticide collections begin next week

The State Department of Agriculture is willing to take your unwanted pesticides, free of charge, beginning next Monday. Vic Mason says his crew can take the pesticides Monday, September 12th at the Madison County Solid Waste Transfer Site. MASON "We can take all pesticides, be that an insecticide, a fungicide, a rodenicide, anything that has the word 'cide' at the end of it, we can accept. We cannot accept fertilizers, motor oils, household type materials of that nature." Collections will be held next Tuesday in Preston, Wednesday in American Falls, Thursday in Burley, Friday in Twin Falls and Saturday the 17th in Jerome. The following week the collection trucks move to Canyon County on Friday, September 23rd. MASON "All this material that we collect during these collections is categorized, they're over packed and then they're shipped off to Texas where they're incinerated." It's free for the first one thousand pounds brought in. If you need more information you find it at the State Department of Agriculture's website, www.agri.state.id.us.
