With today's Fruit Grower Report, I'm Bob Larson. WAVE is great show and tell. That's the word after the second annual Washington Advancements in Viticulture and Enology seminar held last month in Prosser.

Washington Wine Commission's Melissa Hansen says the crowd size nearly doubled from the inaugural event last year ...

MELISSA HANSEN ... "WAVE came about from the industry survey that the Wine Commission administered last year where we asked the industry, how do you prefer to receive your research information? And one of the things that they preferred, that hands-on, one-on-one, seminar-type presentation was rated very highly. And so, we picked up on that, you know, that's how the first wave came about. Because it was such a success, we are going to continue to have an annual event."

She says last year's first WAVE surpassed all expectations ...

MELISSA HANSEN ... "And because we had limited space last year, and we couldn't accommodate everybody, we had a waiting list we couldn't get everybody in, we moved it to the Walter Clore Center in Prosser."

Hansen says WAVE has something for everybody involved in Washington's wine industry ...

MELISSA HANSEN ... "It's always good for winemakers to hear and know more about what's happening in the vineyard, as well as growers need to know what the impact of what they do in the vineyard has on the ultimate wine quality."

Listen tomorrow for more on WAVE and the follow-up meetings you might be interested in if you missed the Prosser seminar.
