Participants at recent seminars in Wenatchee, Yakima, Pasco, and Moses Lake came away with a greater understanding of how to use the federal Perishable Agriculture Commodities Act to their advantage. That was the feedback Dan Kelly of the Washington Growers Clearing House received any way. KELLY: The participants that attended said the information was very valuable and they were thankful that they had the opportunity to attend one of these seminars. The Clearing House, Washington Potato Commission, and U.S.D.A. Risk Management Agency sponsored the P.A.C.A. seminars, funded through R.M.A. grants. KELLY: P.A.C.A. seminars are designed to help growers, marketers, shippers, credit personnel involved in the ag side of the industry to know the laws and rules that protect the product that they have, and that they get proper payment. Kelly says the goal is to have a continuing series of seminars on P.A.C.A.. But for now, thanks to grower demand and more funding, two additional P.A.C.A. seminars have been added. The first is scheduled for April 27th at the Wenatchee Convention Center, followed by an April 28th seminar in Mount Vernon. Kelly says information on or registration for the day long seminars can be obtained by calling the Washington Growers Clearing House at 509-662-6181.
