There are a number of different branches of the USDA.

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service is a multi-faceted Agency with a broad mission area that includes protecting and promoting U.S. agricultural health.

Deputy Administrator of APHIS Beverly Simmons discusses the role of her agency in protecting both our nation's and the world's food supply from pests and disease.

"International Services is in fact the international arm of a fost a fost has as its primary mission to help facilitate safe trade to safeguard our Agriculture and to also help build technical capacity with our counterparts overseas we also operate two very important safeguarding programs one with our colleagues in Panama to help protect against one of the most serious test for cattle and livestock and that's the screw that are serious pests for specialty crops many of which we want to export from the United States."

These efforts support the overall mission of USDA, which is to protect and promote food, agriculture, natural resources and related issues.
