03/08/05 New Affinity TankMix herbicide

Farm and Ranch March 8, 2005 DuPont Affinity TankMix with TotalSol soluble granules has been granted Federal registration by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Dupont says it is the first in a new generation of herbicides to feature TotalSol soluble granular technology, an advanced formulation that dissolves completely for more consistent weed control and easier tank cleanout. The Pacific Northwest is one of the regions Affinity TankMix was specifically created for to improve the performance of today's wild oat, kochia, and broadleaf weed programs for cereal grains. Local Dupont sales representative Don Kambitsch sums up the benefits of the new herbicide. Kambitsch: "It is going to work very effective with a lot of the broadleaf herbicides and grass herbicides. We are seeing more consistent broadleaf weed control as compared to some of our other herbicide formulations we have used. It is a non-residual herbicide so we have crop rotation flexibility. It is compatible with most of the wild oat herbicides. I believe they will see with the performance of this product, how well it works, it is going to be a great value for the farmers." Kambitsch says Affinity TankMix is a 50% active product compared to the usual 75% so recommended use rates are higher at six-tenths of an ounce for spring cereals and one ounce for winter wheat. Affinity TankMix has a state registration in Idaho and registrations are expected shortly in Washington and Oregon.
