Summer time is a great time to combine learning and the outdoors.

History Colorado has 8 museums around the state that offer opportunities to keep sharp even though school may be out.

Zach Werkowitch Community Relations Manager says from Memorial Day to Labor Day, families living in or visiting Colorado can enjoy free youth admission at History Colorado museums statewide.

Werkowitch says its kids can gain a deeper understanding of how the heritage of farming and ranching shaped the state. And..

At History Colorado Center in Denver there's a KEota exhibit that tries to give kids especially a picture of life in rural Colorado in the early 20th century. There's a farmhouse inside where they can collect eggs and do all kinds of things like in a barn.

And at the Center for Colorado Women's History in Denver, visitors can learn about the stories of women's struggles for equity in the workplace in the Women/Work/Justice exhibition. At the museums in Pueblo and Platteville, families and children can participate in hands-on activities like tortilla making and adobe construction nearly every day at both El Pueblo History Museum and Fort Vasquez Museum.
