House Agriculture Committee Chairman Michael Conaway hosted an agriculture telephone news conference last week to share the latest developments regarding the creation of the 2018 Farm Bill.

Conaway says January February is his new target to have the Farm Bill ready for the full House and he expected the Senate's version will be ready by then.

He says the last Farm Bill in 2014 bad an extra 50 billion dollars in revenue that are not there today. The tough decisions will have to be made. A main focus will be changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

Other programs under review are the Dairy Margin Protection Program, Ag Risk Coverage and a national vaccine bank for Foot and Mouth Disease.

The committee had six listening sessions throughout the country this year. He says is was very good to hear from citizens but not one asked for less money.
