AG Census 2017
Farmers and ranchers are well aware of the 2017 AgCensus coming up at the end of the year. But the Ag Statistics Board wants producers to know about a few changes in this year's survey.
Ag Statistics Board Chair Joe Parsons says there will be several new questions on the AgCensus..
"We have a number of items that are new to the census. There are some questions that we are going to be asking that are new. We are going to be asking some questions about farm marketing. We're also going to be asking questions about veterans status, those in farming that served our nation in the military. We're also going to be asking additional questions about how decision making happens on the farm."
The Census of Agriculture, taken once every five years, looks at land use and ownership, operator characteristics, production practices, income and expenditures.
The National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) will mail questionnaires for the 2017 Census of Agriculture to farm and ranch operators in December 2017 to collect data for the 2017 calendar year. Completed forms are due by February 5, 2018.
Farmers and ranchers can complete the Census online at www.agcensus.usda.gov or return their forms by mail.
