Colorado Farm Bureau Foundation Donation

This spring's devastating Northeast Colorado wildfire happened in Logan and Philips Counties. Colorado Farm Bureau Vice President of Advocacy Shawn Martini provides a recap of the fire and those affected by the fire as well as how the Colorado Farm Bureau's Foundation assisted

Martini: "It burnt about 32,500 acres and impacted 25 or 30 producers — some of them large and some of them were just homesteads on a quarter somewhere. Luckily, recovery is going well. That fragile grassland and rangeland that was damaged in that fire is recovering fairly well. We had some timely rains, so we are very fortunate and thankful for that. On the Colorado Farm Bureau side our foundation was able to disperse $350,000 in aid to about 20 of the producers in Philips County who experienced an agricultural loss as a result of the fire. We're extremely proud and thankful we were able to provide that level of relief to those ag producers that were impacted in the area. We look forward to hopefully doing the same thing, if should the worse happen if another fire or ag disaster strikes around the state here in Colorado."

The Colorado Farm Bureau Foundation returns 100 percent of the donations back to those in need. Martini continues with more about the Foundation's purpose

Martini: "To allow people from around the state — folks who live in the city, who live in the suburbs — who want to help out when there is disaster in rural and agricultural Colorado to be able to do so. So we work to solicit donations and gather support from around the state — and in this case support came from around the country — to provide disaster relief."
