All-American Beef Battalion Dinner Tomorrow

The Colorado Corn Administrative Committee has been a very big supporter of the All-American Beef Battalion – a volunteer organization that travels the U.S. serving steaks to our men and women in uniform, and their families.

If helping at one of these very worthwhile events is something you'd like to volunteer for — there is a steak feed taking place tomorrow — Saturday, June 17th— at 5 p.m. at the Fort Carson Event Center. The group plans on serving approximately 400 people.

CCAC President Mike Lefever who has been a long-time supporter and volunteer for these steak-feeds shares

Lefever: "We always need volunteers. I do the coordination for Colorado, so when we have one coming in — if somebody wants to get a hold of me they can reach me at engine3mjl@msn.com or you can call the Colorado Corn office."

The CCAC has now contributed $125,000 to the Beef Battalion, and Colorado Corn staff and board members have also helped serve about 50,000 steak dinners here in the state.

Lefever knows first hand the impact these dinners have for our troops and their families.

Lefever: "Once you've done this and you see the gratitude of these soldiers and you realize when they first come home and the families are reunited — if that doesn't raise the hair on your neck nothing will. It makes you very proud of what you done. I guarantee you once you've done once you're hooked. You're going to want to do it every single time. I've been involved in it since the first meal we served in Colorado was December of 2009 and I've been involved in every one since. I wouldn't miss it — I'd cancel vacations to be sure I'm there. I wouldn't miss it."
