Tomorrow's Webinar on Successful Ag Water Leasing Projects

Colorado Cattlemen's Association Ag Water NetWORK is hosting a webinar tomorrow, Thursday, May 11th at noon and will discuss key elements of how two successful ag water leases work in Colorado. CCA's Ag Water NetWORK Consulting Coordinator Phil Brink says that there will be two different ag leasing projects discussed during the webinar.

Brink: "What they can expect to hear are how the individual ag water lease projects are structured; who is involved in how the water leasing project are working — both operator and farmer perspectives; how fallowing irrigated land is being used to create water for leasing; what the farming requirements are for participation. They will also talk about the payment rates that the farmers are receiving for participating in these projects."

With the webinar beginning at noon, Brink says that they are hoping to catch people during their lunch hour so they can just sit down and watch the webinar whether on their computer or phone. He continues

Brink: "They can go to the Colorado Cattlemen's Association's website and look at the calendar for the week — it is on the main page — and May 11th they will find the webinar and they can click on that. It is a good idea to get on actually before the webinar officially starts because you may have to download some software and get prepared."

This will be the first in a series of webinars hosted by CCA, with the goal of increasing the knowledge of irrigated ag producers as it relates to navigating the complex water laws and obstacles posted by competition water interests.
