Colorado Corn Annual Awards

Colorado Corn Annual Awards

Yesterday the Colorado Corn held their Annual Awards Luncheon. Legislator of the year was presented to two state legislators — State Representative Ed Virgil and State Representative Don Coram who represents district 58 of Colorado and is on the House Ag Committee. Representative Coram said
Coram: “It is an honor to get this award. Agriculture is the backbone of Colorado and the backbone of our nation so to be honored by a group like this it is truly humbling and is truly appreciated.”
He continues with what 2016 may hold for Colorado ag
Coram: “You know we just finished the Colorado Water Plan. I sponsored a bill with Senator Roberts, Senator Schartz and Representative Fisher to bring that back to the public. This was an executive order by the governor basically was going to be bureaucrats writing the plan and we felt like the legislator and the general public needed to be involved in it. So now that it is out we are going to see where the rubber meets the road. If that is something that will be used or if it is something that will sit on a shelf somewhere. We want to stay vigilant and protect Colorado Water.”
Other awards presented were the Jean Sirios-President’s Award to corn grower Mark Oestman. Amicus-Friend of the Agriculture was presented to Monsanto and the company of the year was given to Viaero Wireless.
