Colorado Ag Classic -- Defining Sustainability

Colorado Ag Classic -- Defining Sustainability

Yesterday was the first day of Colorado Corn and Colorado Wheat’s Ag Classic in Loveland. The conference is called Defining Sustainability. Colorado Ag Commissioner Don Brown kicked the conference off by explaining that farmers and ranchers have defined sustainability and that he looked forward to hearing the day’s discussion. He reminds us the importance that agriculture stay on the same page with the public.
Brown: “When we are in the locker room we can say anything to each other and throw our helmets against the lockers - -we can do whatever we need. But when we go out of the locker room and out to the bigger ag playing field we need to be together. Because if we are not and we are diverse with the messages we convey, people miss the message. It sends the wrong message — they don’t know which one to believe. So we are on the playing field, we are going the same direction.”
Wise words for us to remember in agriculture — regardless of what ag sector you are involved in — we are all helping to feed the world by what we do. Following his remarks JBS’ Cameron Bruett shared what the beef industry has been doing both globally and regionally around sustainability in the beef industry.
