New CoBank Center For Agricultural Education Opens

Saturday was the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new CoBank Center for Agricultural Education located at Colorado State University’s Agricultural Research, Development and now Education Center. CSU Ag Education Assistant Professor Dr. Kellie Enns shares what is being housed in this amazing new facility.
Enns: “It really is a place where we feel like the industry and the teacher-candidates — soon to be ag teachers — and CSU are all combined so it is a real collaborative space. We have a both a general social area and we have a Blue Jacket Society room. We have three teaching classrooms. One of which is a distance education laboratory. We have a 4,000 square foot ag mechanics shop and then we have a set of offices and a meeting space. It is pretty great for us.”
She continues
Enns: “This is a transformational moment for our ag education program. It is a chance for our students to really practice the craft of teaching and facility management. Our numbers have really taken off in the last year. We have about 60 students that are pursuing a major. We have two concentrations now. We have both our Teacher Development — our soon to be ag teacher degree. Then we have another concentration called Agricultural Literacy. That is our response to groups and organizations that want to do education in a more informal manner.”
