Colorado State Fair Update

Colorado State Fair Update

With less than a month before the Colorado State Fair begins, we get an update from Colorado State Department of Agriculture Deputy Commissioner and acting Colorado

State Fair General Manager Chris Wiseman says while many of the Fair's contest entry deadlines have closed, there are still some that are open.

Wiseman: "I will tell you that at this point, some of our entries are closed. A lot of the those in the general area. The best way to find out about that though is to go to our website at coloradostatefair.com. We're still taking entries in the horse show area and we're still taking entires in the open breed cattle and small animals. Again, the best way to find out about that is to go to our website at coloradostatefair.com and go to the entry area that you are interested in and find those entry deadlines."

Wiseman continues with what really the fair is all about

Wiseman: "What I like to tell people is that every year at the Colorado State Fair headlining the fair is the 4-H and FFA youth from across the state. Doing — not only livestock animals and horse show area — but there is dog training, shooting sports. That is why we are a fair. We're looking forward to this year's events as well. In the last five years in premiums and through livestock sale proceeds, we've given over $2.2 million to 4-H and FFA youth from across the state. That is something that we are really excited about."

Now that is what I would call a worthwhile investment.
