Checking In On the Summit

Checking In On the Summit. I'm Greg Martin with Colorado Ag Today.

The Protein Producers Summit wraps up today at the Steamboat Springs Sheraton. The Ag Network of the Wests, KayDee Gilkey is at the meeting and gives us this report.

GILKEY: Well Greg, it's been a great turnout and the theme has been "Innovation." Tuesday morning started with keynote speaker Doug Daniels, the head of Google's Cloud platform business. Dough is responsible for overall development, growth and execution of the cloud business. Dr. Tony Frank, president of Colorado State University and Michelle Hadwiger, Office of Economic Development and International Trade also spoke on the role of innovation in their respective sectors. Colorado Commissioner of Ag, Don Brown spoke at lunch. What an amazing and enthusiastic support of Colorado ag. I was impressed. This afternoon featured a faced paced competition between three innovators modeled after the popular reality TV show, Shark Tank. Competitors proposed their ideas to the audience and competed to win the favors of the sharks, three of the Associations leadership and it was called, Stock Tank. Elanco's Shari Westerfeld with the "Enough" movement addresses the issue of feeding 9-billion people using innovative solutions to ensure we can provide enough food for a growing population. The Summit is the Colorado Cattlemen's Association and Colorado Livestock Association Joint Convention.

And that's Colorado Ag Today. I'm Greg Martin, thanks for listening on the Ag Information Network of the West.
