Conservation Projects

Conservation Projects. I'm Greg Martin with Colorado Ag Today.

Last weeks announcement of 115 new projects by USDA for conservation was applauded by the ag community. Two Colorado projects will receive a total of $9.8-million dollars. The Ag Networks Lacy Gray has more.

GRAY: Thanks Greg. Under the USDA's new Regional Conservation Partnership Program two projects, the Modernizing Agricultural Water Management in the Lower Gunnison River Basin and the Verde River Flow and Habitat Restoration Initiative will receive funds. The Lower Gunnison River project gets $8-million while the Verde River projects gets $1.8-million. The projects will focus on improving the availability and quality of water in the region.

Thanks Lacy. These 115 high-impact projects across all 50 states and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico will receive more than $370 million in Federal funding, and projects are leveraging an estimated $400 million in partner contributions to improve the nation's water quality, support wildlife habitat and enhance the environment.

And that's Colorado Ag Today. I'm Greg Martin, thanks for listening on the Ag Information Network of the West.
